Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Mechanic I/II at our BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport field office within the Environmental Monitoring Division. Responsibilities include performing installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment used for a variety of environmental projects.

This position will require the ability to perform confined space entry, use of a respirator, ability to work outside, and the ability to work a flexible schedule when assigned. This is a designated emergency essential facility, and therefore the ability to work nights, weekends, and during adverse weather conditions will be required.

 

Required qualifications for this position include: a HS Diploma/GED, plus 3-5 years of experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment. Formal schooling from an accredited vocational school with a major in a related field may be substituted for experience. Education experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to three years of the required experience. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points, have the ability to lift 50lbs, and have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. This position requires the ability to obtain a Security Clearance.

Preferred skills for this position include: experience with pumps and motors, Commercial Driver's License, Class B or higher.
